In a speech which I gave at the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs of the European Parliament, I asked the Commission to include COVID-19 in the group with the highest health risk in the classification of biological agents, and to review the Safety Framework and Occupational Health Directive recognising COVID-19 as an occupational hazard, with the aim of adequately protecting all workers in situations such as the current pandemic.
