On 26-27 May I attended the Porto Social Forum as part of a parliamentary mission of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs.
Socialists at the Forum advocated a new roadmap that puts social rights as a priority and at the heart of all European policies, in line with our goal of building a strong Social Europe. Among the topics on the agenda were the European Year of Skills as a driver for simultaneous transitions, a global approach to social rights, the European social model as a geopolitical instrument and a view on the future of the European Pillar of Social Rights.
At the same time, the Party of European Socialists convened a Social Summit where we analysed the progress made on our priorities and set out the next steps to be taken on employment, health and safety and education. You can read more about the content of the Summit and our commitment to social rights in the PES press release.
