In the plenary debate on the urgency of addressing the situation of the homeless in Europe, I asked the European Commission to present as soon as possible a Recommendation to implement the Housing First model in all Member States. This model, which combines access to housing with access to social and health services, has proven successful in those countries where it has been implemented as a strategy to eradicate homelessness. That is why I asked the Commission for a strong commitment to implement it through sufficient budgetary allocation, country-specific recommendations and including homelessness as an ambitious objective in the table of social indicators of the Sustainable Semester.
