European solidarity to protect the welfare state: a response to COVID-19

This crisis, being in its genesis of health, will undoubtedly end, as it is already doing, in an economic and social crisis similar to the crisis of 2008. But if we do not want to repeat the same mistakes, it is urgent to implement the structural changes necessary to shield social rights and universal public services that protect the common good and distribute the burden of its financing wherever economic power is concentrated.

The Eurogroup agreement is a good start in this sense and the Socialists in the European Parliament continue to work for an ambitious plan that I have summarised in this article published in the diario.es.
